I have been a midwife in Ontario since 1997. I started my career as a midwife by first becoming a registered nurse in Ontario in 1988 and working at Mount Sinai in Toronto on the high risk obstetric unit.
As much as I enjoyed working as a nurse, I felt I was missing something in my career. A career change was calling, so I went to England and worked as a nurse and started m midwifery training in Chatham , Kent , UK .
Once I completed my training I worked in London , England as a midwife for 1 year and then returned to Canada to pursue my midwifery career in Ontario . I started the process to register as a midwife in Ontario and while I was waiting for my registration I worked in Rankin Inlet, NWT as a midwife in the only birth centre in the NWT.
Since, obtaining my midwifery license in Ontario I have held privileges at many of the large hospitals in Southwestern Ontario including London Health Sciences Centre and McMaster University Hospital in Hamilton . I have more importantly provided many women with the option of a home birth.
I look forward to offering women and their families the option of midwifery care in Windsor.
